Using the departure board
A simpler way to check UK train departures.
Sometimes you already know where you’re going. You just need to know when the train leaves.
Start with the station board
A departure board is useful when you want to see what is leaving a particular station. It brings together departure times, destinations, platforms and service updates.
TrainBoard opens a board for a nearby station when you allow location access. You can also select a station manually. That makes it useful both on the concourse and before you leave home.
Check where the train actually stops
The destination shown on the board is not necessarily your stop. A train heading further along the line may still be the one you need.
Tap a service to see its calling points and times. Or choose your destination to narrow the board to trains that stop there.
Keep an eye on platforms and delays
Live information can change. A platform may not yet be available, and an expected departure time can move as the service progresses.
TrainBoard refreshes its National Rail data automatically and marks delays and cancellations on the board. Check station displays and listen for announcements too, especially when a platform changes.
Meeting someone? Try arrivals
Switch to the arrivals board to check when a train is due at the station. You can open the service details to see its route and calling points.
